Soft vampire headcanons

Vampires that bite their s/o as a comfort seeking thing. A little akin to scenting in the omegaverse. Biting and drinking just a little, not to feed but to feel connected, grounded, feel the other's presence with their entire being, just for comfort. Especially when they're having a rough time.

All powerful, immortal vampires being at their most vulnerable when biting their partners out of the need for comfort, being in a headspace a little like subspace: soft, pliant, defenceless seeming mannerisms, more human than they've been in ages.

Vampire characters that don't sleep bc they don't need to, but still curling up with their s/o for naps. Ofc, they aren't asleep, but they even mimic deep breathing and snores, if only to hear the amused sleepy laughter from their s/o. Vampires that like sleeping simply bc they get to lie next to their partner and do nothing but bask in their quiet presence.

Vampires that have gone so long without genuine love or intimacy that they feel like those are foreign emotions. Vamps that have to be coaxed into relaxing and being in love, vamps that need reassurance that they're doing just fine and that they're not messing up, reassurance that them being no longer human doesn't make them not worthy of love.

Vampires that insist on sleeping with their heads on their s/O's chests (when they're human) because they find the steady heartbeat and rising and falling of their chests when they breathe very comforting. They sometimes miss the feeling of being human.

Vampires that were turned forcefully, in incredibly violent ways, so much so that they have flashbacks to it even after decades. Them having to be soothed and brought back to the present by trusted friends/partners

Vampires that make soft little chittering, snuffling, sometimes woodland creature like noises when they're incredibly happy and sated, usually in the presence of their s/o, especially during biting as a means of comfort seeking.

Soft vampires.

There is a wolf in front of House, and onstage, and next to him. They all have teeth, and he keeps his mouth shut because he doesn’t yet.

He’s in class, in that big lecture hall, but he’s also onstage, giving a presentation to students on how to treat a patient presenting with leg pain.

Hair shorn short. Military cut, like Dad. Wolfskin wrapped around his chest, legs spread, slouched down, hiding near the back, so he won’t call on himself. So he’ll blend in with the pack.

“Hey, House,” House calls to himself anyways, and meets his own blue eyes.

House onstage smiles. His teeth are razor sharp.

“It’s a basic truth of the human condition.”

House suppresses a bleat. Doesn't bare his teeth and doesn’t look away.

“What is it?”

Don’t reply.

“What’s the truth?”

He knows the answer.

“Come on you idiot, what is it?”

House in the audience won’t answer. Just sits there, pathetic, neutered, insolent girl. He watches (feels) his jaw work, smells the sweat, hears the blood rushing, the increasing thump, thump, thump.

“What is it?” he roars, stepping forward and the world drops beneath him. His leg gave out. He forgot his cane.

He looks up at the class and eyes stare back at him. All red. All hungry. He bares his own teeth. Wolves are supposed to protect their own.

“The truth is,” the wolf beside him says. House turns to where Wilson sits, chewing something. “That everybody lies.”

When Wilson smiles, his fangs are stained green.

That feeling when I'm on a discord server and people are saying "oh, avoid this fic author, they're a known homophobe and transphobe, we don't talk about them here", and it's an author who has many works that I like.

But then I go looking to see just what the author said that was so bad and I can't find anything? Nothing in their fics, no public accusations on tumblr or twitter, and googling their AO3 handle alongside "homophobic" doesn't even come up with anything. The only thing I found was a now-deleted fic with "heterosexuality" in the title.

Is that what did it? Were the contents of that fic terrible? And why was it deleted? Was the author tired of hate comments, or did they turn a new leaf? I don't know. I don't even know if that fic is why the people on that server banned discussion of the author.

I could try DMing someone from the server to see if they'd tell me, but I don't want to be starting any shit.

But does it even matter? Do they have any authority over me? Does reading these fics support homophobia in any way? Probably not. But even just knowing that the author may or may not be homophobic and/or transphobic is enough to make me feel a little icky inside.

This isn't me making some kind of grand "death of the author" statement. I genuinely don't know what to think about this or what the right call is here. (Or even if there is a right call.) I'm just trying to sort out my thoughts by putting them to words.

obviously you might've seen that poll i put out last week, to check interaction for a stranger things writers server, and it’s literally DELISH! to see some of you keen to join :D!!

i’m worried i’ve potentially pitched it as just a general server, so i want to clarify; this will be a writing server, for x reader writers.

we won’t be screening for that, there will no need to ‘give proof’ that you're a writer or anything whatsoever! especially because there are plenty of aspiring writers who find their feet in their own time & may be inspired in this chat and we would never want to discourage that — but this server is to be very writing-orientated. 90% of the channels are dedicated to discussing fics.

another reminder that this server will be 18+, and while it is for the older st teens, there will be no space for billy hargrove here.

this is literally so weird and random but like I had this dream that this big Twitter account for some fandom news publication (likely only real in my dreams) wrote an article about and linked to my judgment fic called voyuer (actual fic i did write) and they were praising it and recommending it to their audience.

so the fic blew up outta nowhere and since I didn't use Twitter I didn't know that had happened and was just scratching my head over where all those people came from, right? then after a friend sent me the link to the post and I damn near lost my mind. I was sooo happy bc like ??? WHAT?? and I read the comments on the post and there were sooooo many people speaking well of it and just generally hyping it up and I was honestly on cloud 9.

then AGAIN OUTTA NO FUCKING WHERE, some person who clearly never read the story commented something like "why are we praising a disgusting freak who wrote rape fic?" and like...

this, never-- it was just so very clear that this person didn't even read a SENTENCE of that fic and just wrongly made assumptions based off the comments they saw on the post that ???? somehow??? gave them that impression??? or maybe they were just trying to stir the pot? idk.

anyway, it blew up ever further and suddenly everyone was trying to cancel me and were just full on making up things that were never in the fic as reasons why I 'shouldn't have a platform' ?!??! and omg i woke up in a cold sweat

I’m always like ??? 😨 when I see several new kudos/bookmarks in short succession on one of my older fics. Like? What does it MEAN?? Did someone recommend my fic to their friends or something? And they all read it? SCARY! FRIGHTENING!!!!!!!!!!!!! /lh
